The Jersey Young Enterprise Board are pleased to announce that the Young Enterprise Teams will be given exposure to local businesses who will provide them with skills training and development via a targeted series of business focused workshops.

Eamon Fenlon, Chairman of the Jersey Young Enterprise Board said:

“The workshops which were introduced last year to the Jersey Young Enterprise local program1, provide structured learning for the students in areas which are important to the running of any business. Via the workshops we are seeking to further our 2020 learning message to students of ‘Change, Resilience and Agility’.

The topics for the 2020 workshops are:

  • Finance for Business’ – which will be kindly hosted by Chapter One.

This workshop will cover the fundamentals of financial record keeping and will focus on the importance of good cash management.

  • Social Media for Business – which will be kindly hosted by Digital Jersey.

This workshop will cover the elements that should feature in a good quality social media strategy and will focus on consistency of messaging to the correct target audience.

We are very lucky to access the talent we have in the Jersey local community and that the various organisations are willing to share this talent so generously. The 2020 workshops will be complemented by additional skills workshops in 2021.

Ed Jewell – Head of Events for the Charity commented:

COVID has been a time for reflection about how we run events and transfer skills. We have a responsibility to the students, to their Business Advisorsand to the partners with whom we work to implement appropriate safeguarding measures. We will be running the workshops in-line with COVID guidance. Physical attendance will be on a first come first serve basis, with virtual spaces available to those not physically present. We encourage the full cohort of students to attend the workshops which are put on for their benefit, and with the guidance of their allocated Business Advisors to apply lessons learned so that good businesses emerge as a result.

Charlotte Trigg of Chapter One said:

As a local provider of professional education, we always believe that there are substantial benefits to understanding finance early on in our careers. Having an awareness of finance is beneficial throughout all aspects of life, as well as providing a good base for anyone who is wishing to start their professional exams. We are excited to partner with Jersey Young Enterprise to upskill local 6th form students.“

Rory Steel from Digital Jersey said:

We encourage local businesses to use the technology available to them to its maximum potential to promote a ‘high-end professional’ image with respect to social media deployments. The opportunity to host this workshop will allow us to pro-actively spread that message to the Jersey Young Enterprise teams.“
