HSSD will be running feedback sessions for patients and service users. Islanders who have any experiences of the care and services of the Health and Social Services Department are invited to share their views with the Department.

On Saturday 9 November the Department will be running its second feedback session as part of a new initiative. The HSSD Governance Team will be available at Lukis House between 10:00 and midday to speak to anyone who would like to express their views about the care and services they have received. A further session will be on Saturday 30 November at the same time and place.

Feedback, in a variety of forms, has been identified as an important aspect of improving and developing care and services. These feedback sessions are intended to add to complement the other mechanisms that are in place to monitor and assess the standards of services provided. The sessions are specifically designed for people who would like to share their thoughts but do not wish to use the formal complaints procedure. All approaches will be treated by staff in the strictest confidence.

Eleven people attended the first session. The majority wanted to discuss areas where they thought the service could improve and wanted to explain their experiences. Some people attended in order to compliment the services.

Acting Chief Officer, Malcolm Nutley, said: "We're grateful to the people who attended the first session and gave us their feedback. I would like to encourage anyone else who has something they want to say about HSSD services to come along to Lukis House in the Grange this Saturday or on the final session on 30 November."
