Money raised by selling food cooked by ABN AMRO staff at this year’s Seafront Sundays will go towards promoting awareness of bowel cancer in the island.

The private bank, which sponsors Taste Guernsey, has partnered this year with Bowel Cancer Guernsey, whose aim is to encourage healthy eating and exercise.

ABN AMRO directors Graham Thoume and Andy Graham will cook at three of the five Seafront Sundays this year, as well as doing live demonstrations during Taste Guernsey Food Festival in September. All money raised at each of the events will go to Bowel Cancer Guernsey, with which the bank has a personal link.

"Making Bowel Cancer Guernsey our charitable partner was an easy choice for us, as we’ve had members of our staff directly affected by this illness. We’re strong believers in using fresh ingredients to help maintain a healthy lifestyle," said Mr Thoume.

Ann Nippers, director of Bowel Cancer Guernsey, said: "The reason we exist is to promote a healthy lifestyle and the money raised by ABN AMRO staff at this year’s Seafront Sundays will help us to continue doing this.

"We are extremely grateful to the bank for choosing us to benefit from their culinary skills. We have an exciting project that we are in the process of finalising and with ABN AMRO’s help we hope that it will come to fruition."

The series of Seafront Sundays gets underway this weekend and further events will be held monthly between June and September.

On the menu this Sunday on the ABN AMRO stand will be sautéed chicken and mussels in a tarragon and Chardonnay sauce, served with French bread. It will be sold at £4 per portion.
