Aurigny has launched a new marketing campaign in a bid to entice more first-time visitors to the island.

In conjunction with its new local marketing agency Oi, the airline has devised the campaign, which starts this month, to help promote the Bailiwick as the ideal getaway for UK and European visitors.

It follows on from Aurigny’s recent local promotions, which kick-started the year and gave islanders the chance to book discounted flights during the summer period.

The new marketing campaign focusses on online advertising and promotions, including through Facebook, where the airline has thousands of followers.

As well as promoting Guernsey as a top destination for Spring breaks, the campaign is also showcasing the upcoming Channel Islands Heritage Festival and all this has to offer locally.

The airline is working in partnership with VisitGuernsey to help promote this unique festival. The first pan-island Channel Islands Heritage Festival was held back in 2015 and has been a huge success in driving up visitor numbers.

Aurigny’s Commercial Director Malcolm Coupar said it was important to help support tourism and highlight all that makes Guernsey such a special place to visit.

“As Guernsey’s airline, we are very passionate about the Bailiwick and all it has to offer.

“If we can play our part in increasing visitor numbers, not only is it good news for us, but it also helps to boost the tourism industry as a whole and support the wider community.

“There is so much to explore and discover in the islands, whether people come for a short break or a longer holiday. The Bailiwick is also somewhere that is steeped in history and people will be able to explore this to the full during the heritage festival, which is being held this coming April and May.”

Mike Hopkins, the States’ Economic Development Chief Secretary (Interim) and Director of Marketing and Tourism said:

“VisitGuernsey is very pleased that Aurigny will be dedicating much more of its marketing budget to help raise the awareness of Guernsey as a fabulous place to visit for a short break or longer holiday, and also to help attract more visitors to our major events and festivals, such as the Channel Islands Heritage Festival.

“By both VisitGuernsey and Aurigny marketing and promoting the island with a consistent and compelling message, we will be much more effective in helping to drive up visitor numbers in an increasingly competitive environment.”
