Blue Islands has appointed Guernsey-based broker Sydney Charles as its aviation insurance broker.
Sydney Charles, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, will administer the insurance of the airline’s passengers and fleet, which includes ATR 72-500, ATR 42-320 and ATR 42-500 aircraft.
‘As a Channel Islands based airline, Blue Islands is naturally a big supporter of local business, which is why we’re delighted to choose a Guernsey-based broker to cater for our insurance requirements,’ said Blue Islands’ chief executive, Rob Veron.
Sydney Charles founder and managing director Philip Lepp, who has more than 25 years of experience in the aviation insurance market, said that working with Blue Islands offered a fantastic opportunity to show what Guernsey has to offer in terms of the insurance market.
‘I’ve worked as both an underwriter and a broker with airline carriers from around the world and when it comes to aviation insurance, there’s no one size fits all. The cover you offer has to fit the needs of the airline,’ he explained.
‘We were able to support Blue Islands’ needs via a locally based administration team and I’m delighted that it has chosen to work with Sydney Charles.’
