More than £2,500 was raised for two local charities at Carey Olsen’s inaugural Brightest Business Charity Quiz.

The quiz pitted local businesses against one another in a multi-sensory quiz experience that raised money for the firm’s two chosen local charities - Guernsey Disability Swimming and the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation.

23 tables of six competed against each other at the interactive event held last Tuesday (15 September) at St Pierre Park Hotel.

Rawlinson and Hunter will be the first team to have its name engraved on the trophy having come out on top with 80 points out of a possible 124. Trust Corporation and BWCI came in second and third with 74 and 73 points, respectively.

Quiz master Nick Carver and BBC Jersey presenter Charlie McArdle put the teams through their paces in a series of interactive rounds that featured film clips and voice recognition as well as touch, taste, memory and speed challenges.

Ten Carey Olsen volunteers ensured the smooth running of the event and worked closely with St Pierre Park, who generously waived their venue charges in support of the charities, to deliver the event.

The quiz will be an annual event in both Jersey and Guernsey as part of Carey Olsen's on-going charitable activity. The inaugural Jersey event was won by BNP Paribas Securities Service team 'Les Quizerables'.

Carey Olsen's charities committee chairman, Richard Field said: "There was a great atmosphere and the multi-sensory element added a new twist to the traditional quiz environment.

“There was definitely a healthy rivalry among the local firms but everyone had fun and a lot of money was raised for our two deserving charities. We’re looking forward to seeing which teams return next year to fight it out again.”
