Carey Olsen staff have chosen to support Guernsey Disability Swimming LBG and the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation (PPBF) as the firm's chosen charities for the next two years.
Carey Olsen's charities committee coordinates the firm’s fundraising activities in Guernsey and will be organising a range of events to raise awareness and money for their new causes.
The PPBF was set over 10 years ago by Andy Priaulx MBE and his wife Jo following the premature births of both their children. The Foundation is committed to raising money to assist Guernsey's neonatal unit and to providing on-going support to local families with premature babies. The Foundation also manages a property in Southampton that provides families with a ‘home-from-home’ while their children are being treated in hospital.
Mrs Priaulx said: “It’s extremely valuable for us to have Carey Olsen's support. We are currently raising money for a new apartment in Southampton so that we can cater for the needs of multiple local families at one time.”
New charity Guernsey Disability Swimming LBG was established by Ruth Parsons and Roger Allsopp, with the assistance of Richard de la Rue and Carey Olsen's Adrian Sarchet, to continue the opportunity for disabled swimmers to meet on a weekly basis with assistance from volunteers. Since it started, the charity has doubled in size and there is great scope for this growth to continue as awareness grows and the charity develops.
Roger Allsopp, said: “Forming a new charity involves a lot of hard work and we are lucky to be supported by Carey Olsen not only with fundraising but also through access to the firm's legal and commercial expertise, which is giving us invaluable knowledge in helping us to create solid foundations for the future.”
Carey Olsen's charities’ committee will support the charities with donations, ideas for fund-raising initiatives, practical help with events and projects and advice and support where needed.
Carey Olsen counsel and committee chairman Richard Field said: “We have chosen two very different charities, both of which have strong connections to Carey Olsen staff. We are keen to take a proactive role in supporting them and we hope to make a significant contribution to both over the two-year term.”
