Tickets for this year’s Guernsey Literary Festival, taking place from 16-20 September, will go on sale today.

The tickets can be purchased online through the Festival’s new look website at www.guernseyliteraryfestival.com.

This year’s diverse line-up includes author, journalist and TV personality Will Self, Scottish novelist A.L. Kennedy, crime writer Sophie Hannah, chef and food journalist Prue Leith and British politician Jack Straw, with further announcements still to be made.

The talks, events and workshops will take place at various locations around the island including Guernsey Literary Festival’s inflatable venue – The Hub – at Market Terrace, St James Concert and Assembly Hall, Town Church and the Guille-Allès Library. The majority of events are priced at £6 for adults and £4 for ages 18 and under, with headline talks costing £10 and £5 respectively.

Festival Director Catriona Stares said the aim was to continue the Festival’s ethos of being accessible and appealing to the broadest range of people.

She said: “It’s an event that we want the whole family to relish and we have worked hard to make this possible by keeping prices affordable and securing an extremely varied line-up. Along with the big name authors there are several family-oriented events including children’s author Korky Paul, who will hold a ‘read and draw’ session, and returning favourites Spud and Yam. There are also some free events such as Family Storytelling in the Magic Hub and the Amazing Adventures of Librarian Lil in the Dorey Room at St James.

“We would urge people who are interested in our events to book tickets as soon as possible; while the Festival isn’t until September, there are limited places at each event and we do tend to sell out quickly. The free family events also require booking.

“Online booking is safe and secure through our Ticket Source system, but for those who aren’t web-savvy or feel uneasy about purchasing online we will be operating a Festival helpline and will be more than happy to assist."

Tickets will also be available for purchase from the Guernsey Literary Festival Box Office on the ground floor of the Guille-Allès Library on 14-16 September between 11am and 2pm. During the event itself tickets will be available on the Market Terrace.
