Local fiduciary company, Imperium Trust Company Limited has appointed Roy McGregor as its new chairman following the retirement of Peter Snowden.
Mr McGregor moved to Guernsey in 2006 when he was appointed CEO of Credit Suisse’s businesses in the Channel Islands, a role that he held for 10 years, where he was responsible for the group’s significant activities in the islands and the Isle of Man and for a staff base of more than 200.
During Mr McGregor’s 36-year career in the financial services sector, he has held senior positions for a number of international organisations including Coutts & Co., SG Hambros, NatWest and PwC and has worked in numerous international financial centres in both Europe and Asia. Whilst with Credit Suisse, he also sat on 22 boards or branch management committees for the group in both executive and internal non-executive roles.
Commenting on his new role he said:
‘There has been a degree of consolidation in the fiduciary sector in recent times. An independent trust organisation such as Imperium is in a strong position to capitalise on the changes in the market place, and to continue to develop business opportunities through its flexible and high quality service delivery. I am looking forward to supporting the Imperium team to achieve its future strategic growth objectives.’
Director David Gilmour added:
‘We are delighted to welcome someone with Roy’s gravitas and depth of experience to the role of chairman. His considerable knowledge of the international financial services sector will be invaluable as Imperium continues to develop. I would also like to thank Peter for the significant contribution and support he has given since the company was established in 2011.’
