The Guernsey Institute of Directors, together with long-term seminar sponsor JT, have announced the dates and themes for the third annual Seminar Series, which this year includes three lunchtime events.

Sponsored since launch in 2013 by JT, the Seminar Series is organised by the Institute of Directors to provide an open-forum panel discussion around some of the key issues affecting the Bailiwick for members and guests. Panelists are chosen to represent the States of Guernsey, industry and where appropriate JT puts forward its own team of experts.

The first event, addressing the theme "Corporate Culture and the Board”, will take place on Thursday 14 January at Old Government House. This event will be jointly hosted by the Guernsey branch of ICSA.

Panelists include Simon Osborne, Chief Executive Officer of ICSA and Roger Barker, Director of Corporate Governance, Institute of Directors; they will be joined by two local Chartered Directors Carol Goodwin, winner of the Neville Bain Memorial Award and Paul Luxon, Minister for Health and Social Services. Together they will share their perspectives on corporate culture and respond to questions from the audience.

James Ede-Golightly, IOD Committee member and series organiser, said: “We’re delighted to once again offer up topical lunchtime seminars which are kindly supported for the third year by JT. In recent years, the question of corporate culture has risen to the top of the governance agenda. Cultural failure can be seen at the heart of many a corporate scandal, whether that be a failure of leadership or individuals acting outside the organisation’s values and ethical framework. It impacts upon organisations regardless of sector, or industry, or size. We are very much looking forward to a lively debate around this hot topic and to getting the Spring Series up and running.”

Tamara O’Brien, Head of Marketing, Brand and Distribution said: “JT is very pleased to continue to support the IOD in providing these interesting and well attended lunchtime events for its membership, and the three events this year promise to build upon the success of the last two years. As the only locally owned communications provider in the Channel Islands, we are committed to the supporting local industry and our partnership with the IOD, as sponsor of their annual debate and this Seminar Series, enables us to get right to the heart of bringing leading local business figures together for thought-provoking discussion. We wish the IOD every success for the Seminar Series.”
