More than 80 people have already registered for the first of Les Bourgs Hospice’s 30/30 challenges and the organisers and sponsors are hoping more will sign up before 1st April.

‘We definitely have more registered for this year’s Walk 30 ways in 30 days than we did at the same point in 2016 which is great news. What is really pleasing is that we have a lot more youngsters taking part and making it into a family challenge,’ said Les Bourgs Hospice fundraising administrator Trish De Carteret.

‘PraxisIFM as the sponsor has also registered more than a dozen people so hopefully other companies will be keen to get involved and organise lunchtime walks. Thanks to the generosity of PraxisIFM, who have covered the costs, subsidised the t-shirts and paid for the final day’s celebration, all the money raised will be used by Les Bourgs Hospice to provide care to islanders with life-limiting illnesses.’

From 1st April, participants will walk each day with the aim of walking somewhere different every time, this is not essential, but does make the walking more fun.

‘PraxisIFM’s team in Guernsey was overwhelmingly in favour of us supporting Les Bourgs and it’s fantastic that they want to get involved in the challenge as well. We’re a growing company and so life for all our team is very busy and it is easy to forget how privileged we are to live in such a beautiful place,’ said Simon Thornton, group CEO at PraxisIFM.

‘Walk 30 ways is the perfect excuse to explore parts of Guernsey that you wouldn’t normally go to and I know we will all be very proud to see people out and about wearing the t-shirts knowing that each and every one of them is making a real difference.’

Walk 30 ways in 30 days is the first of this year’s Les Bourgs Hospice 30/30 challenges and will be followed by the 30/30 cycle challenge in May, 30 bays in 30 days in July and finishes with 30 runs in 30 days in October.

Registration for Walk 30 ways in 30 days costs £10 for adults and £5 for children and can be done online at www.lesbourgshospice.org.gg or by completing a registration form and returning it to Les Bourgs Hospice. PraxisIFM has also provided money to subsidise branded t-shirts, which are available at a reduced cost of £10.
