The support given to a Guernsey boy by a charity which helps children suffering from liver disease has been recognised by ZEDRA.

ZEDRA, which is an independent, global specialist in trust, corporate and fund services, took part in Big Yellow Friday, the national fundraising initiative for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation which helps children affected by childhood liver disease and their families.

ZEDRA became involved because the son of one of their assistant trust managers has been helped by the charity. Charlotte Robert’s son Zachary was diagnosed with Alpha-One Antitrypsin Deficiency shortly after birth and thanks to the local doctors and support from the charity, he is enjoying life as a normal little boy.

The office started its campaign to help on Shrove Tuesday with a pancake sale and then three days later on Big Yellow Friday, ZEDRA staff decorated the office and staff wore blue and yellow which are the charity’s colours. There was also daffodils on sale, a raffle for cakes donated by Mrs Roberts’ sister-in-law Iveta Roberts of a Taste of Heaven and a quiz.

‘CLDF is a charity close to my heart. With the necessary local medical support and the dedication of the charity, Zachary is enjoying life as a normal little boy,’ said Mrs Robert.

Managing director of ZEDRA Guernsey Julien Sharpe said it had been fantastic to support a lesser known charity which did such important work.

‘ZEDRA Guernsey is extremely fortunate to have a team of committed and hard-working individuals eager to help a variety of worthwhile causes. To support a charity which is so close to home to one of my colleagues is even more rewarding. Their efforts ensure that ‘giving back’ is a fundamental part of who ZEDRA is as a firm.’
