Guernsey resident Simon Torode has launched the first phase of a dynamic online portal which looks set to make the Channel Islands a hub for showcasing international artists and creatives from around the world.

Mr Torode is the founder of Livingroom estate agency and also owns Mr Torode brand and design consultancy and, now, Soldstory offering creatives (or their representatives) a new avenue to sell their work.

Using cutting-edge technology, www.soldstory.com launched this month as an online marketplace.

Soldstory has taken months of work to bring the innovative site to life and has already built  an impressive community with more than 10,000 followers across social media platforms.

Soldstory’s state-of-the art website is soon to be the home for a raft of excellent, varied and authentic creative works with the power firmly in the hands of the creatives themselves.

Simon said: “I created Soldstory for like-minded, passionate artists working in all accessible mediums. Creatives, often working in isolation, may struggle to get a broad audience for their work but, with the power of global, social connectivity, Soldstory means they now have access to an international community of artists and art lovers.

“Our aim is to build a global online community of talented creatives who can manage their work for sale and reach a broader, targeted, international audience of enthusiastic art lovers.

“There’s true potential for global impact through Soldstory and that’s exciting. Soldstory is an online club where members can be inspired, develop their skills and build a network of followers who can purchase authentic artwork.

“It’s important to me that Soldstory is not an anonymous company formed in a corporate, ivory tower. Soldstory is much more about a true connection with its members through intrinsic understanding. I am a creative; I know we can be a different breed. We dare to dream big, we are passionate about what we do and, most of all, we like to be surrounded by those who are like-minded yet highly individual and Soldstory gives all of us that option.”

Simon said that one of the key points of Soldstory was to give artists the opportunity to self-edit their creative gallery. Creatives can choose varying commission bands to suit their requirements.

“I feel very privileged to live in the Channel Islands, where we definitely punch above our weight in terms of creative talent. It seemed a natural development to be able to offer a platform both for local artists and those further afield to show their work on an equal footing.” he said.

Soldstory also hosts a Storyteller Affiliate Scheme which encourages individuals to recommend their creative friends and contacts. Storytellers can earn a fee for each creative that then joins (subject to conditions) the Soldstory community.

“It’s a thrilling time in the creative world and we’re so proud to be able to offer Soldstory as a vibrant and innovative way for creatives and their friends to connect and show and sell their work,” Simon said.
