Peter Hollins, national chairman of CLIC Sargent, will be the local charity’s official guest at its “50 Shades of Earl Grey” annual fundraising tea party.

The final event, organised by Saffery Champness, will be taking place on Sunday 8 March at the Duke of Richmond, marking the retirement of the CLIC Sargent Guernsey’s chair and founder, Belinda Netherton.

Mr Hollins took over as head of the national charity in September last year succeeding Daphne Pullen OBE. Previously Chief Executive of the British Heart Foundation for almost ten years, he also holds a number of health related, non-executive positions including Deputy Chair of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

He will be joining the Saffery Champness staff who have been working hard with the local CLIC team to ensure that the afternoon is as successful as possible.

Mr Hollins said: “CLIC Sargent’s Home-from-Home is a vital service for those families coming from the Channel Islands. It will be my first visit to Guernsey and I’m really looking forward to meeting the local branch representatives.”

Mrs Netherton set up the local branch of CLIC Sargent 14 years ago. Run solely by volunteers, the charity has supported many local children (from new born babies up to 25 year olds) who have gone through treatment for cancer.

Saffery Champness is once again underwriting all the event costs meaning that every penny raised, including the full £25 ticket price, goes straight to CLIC Sargent.

Each ticket entitles guests to afternoon tea, a glass of bubbly, and the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of pampering and shopping in the ‘Area of Indulgence.’
