£1,450 was raised for Guernsey-based humanitarian charity Bridge2 at a party held by Bonsai to celebrate the opening of their new homewares showroom.
The Bonsai founders, Mat Rolfe and Lee Stillwell, wanted the launch party to have an altruistic element and continue their fundraising for Bridge2, which to date has supported the humanitarian crisis in Sri Lanka, Haiti, the Philippines and more recently, Nepal.
Guests stepped up to buy generous raffle prizes which included spa treatments from Bella Spa, plant and landscaping vouchers from Petersfield Gardens, a canapé party from Cooked, the use of a luxury car from Jacksons, dinner and drinks for two at the Cornerstone were donated by White Rock brewery, cocktails from Aperitif, a kayak from Sunsport Marine and £200 to spend at the Fermain Valley Hotel from Rossborough Private Clients.
Other prizes included landscape architecture vouchers from Portfolio, a Citizen Ecodrive watch and Ferrari pen courtesy of Ray & Scott and of course vouchers from Bonsai. Together the donated prizes meant £1,450 was raised for the charity.
Charity founder, Sarah Griffith MBE, said: "I am so thrilled to receive the incredible funds raised from the Bonsai Home showroom launch event. I was away working in Haiti the week of the event but I have heard what an amazing evening it was from friends who did attend!
"It was wonderful that the directors of Bonsai chose to support Bridge2 again and this sort of amount of money really does make a difference. It will be spent on an orphanage we are helping to rebuild in Dadagaun, Nepal. Thank you to all who attended and all who so generously donated the prizes for this amazing raffle and of course huge thanks to Matt and Lee."
Mat Rolfe, one of the two Bonsai directors, said: "Having supported Bridge2 in the past with other fundraising events we continue to admire the work Sarah does. Her personal dedication to helping others in need is inspirational and we feel her targeted approach to helping communities is to be admired and supported."
The aim of the Bridge2 charities it is to understand and determine the requirements of those in need and then to apply all possible resources to supply what is required.
