Guernsey businesses still have time to sign up to compete in this year’s Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Inter-Firm Town Relay.
The annual race through the streets of St Peter Port is taking place on Wednesday 29 July and a number of local businesses have already signed up to complete the one mile lap starting and ending at the top of Smith Street.
Teams are made up of four runners and can be either all men, women or mixed. Entrants must be over 16 and each team must not have more than one Guernsey Island Amateur Athletic Club (GIAAC) member.
The course takes runners down the Truchot, along the Pollet, down the High Street, along the sea front, back along the Pollet and finally up Smith Street to finish.
The money raised from the event will support the Guernsey Island Amateur Athletic Club (GIAAC) in attending the next Island Games.
Andy Finch, head of wealth management at Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management in Guernsey, said: “ We’ve got two teams entering this year’s relay involving a mixture of staff from our Guernsey, Jersey and London offices so there is definitely some friendly rivalry which is all part of the competitive spirit of the event.
“The Butterfield Bolts have dominated the men’s race for the past few years so it would be great to see if one of the established teams or perhaps a new team can give them a run for their money this year!”
Registration is at 6pm and the race starts at 6.30pm at the top of Smith Street. Entry costs £15 and entry forms are available from the GIAAC office and website or the Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management office on The Grange. Postal entries must be received by Friday 24th July. Late entries can be submitted on the day and will cost £18.
