Walkers has promoted Kim Paiva to the role of senior counsel.
Miss Paiva, a corporate and finance lawyer, joined AO Hall, which became part of Walkers last year, as an associate in 2010 having moved from her native South Africa and was promoted to senior associate four years later.
‘I’m delighted to have been promoted and am grateful to both Sam Shires and Matt Sanders for the mentorship and support that they have both provided over the years which has helped me grow and develop as a Guernsey practitioner.’ she said.
Earlier this year, Walkers was named in The Lawyer’s annual Offshore Top 30 list as being world’s largest international offshore law firm with a Channel Islands’ presence, and the biggest growing law firm of the year.
‘Being part of a global network has meant that we have had some really exciting work referred to the Guernsey office and that’s been really positive for all practice areas. Walkers has such a strong and well-respected brand and we are definitely benefiting from being part of such a rapidly expanding group,’ she said.
In her new role, Miss Paiva will be responsible for establishing her own practice areas and client base
‘Since we merged with Walkers we have received an increasing number of aircraft financing and off-lease registration work. This is a new area of business for our team that has come out of the Walkers network and it's an exciting opportunity to build our expertise in this interesting and specialist area,’ she said.
Group partner and team leader Sam Shires said Miss Paiva was an integral part of the Walkers team.
