No fewer than 70 teams battled it out Wednesday night in a grand quiz organised to benefit a range of Guernsey charities.
Hosted and arranged annually by RBS International, the quiz this year was the biggest to date attracting nearly 300 clients from the Bank. Together, RBS International and its clients have raised £10,500 for 21 Guernsey charities, a combination of the total funds raised which was matched by a contribution from the Bank’s community cashback scheme.
Over a dozen Bank employees were on hand to ensure the event, which was held at the Hotel St Pierre Park, went smoothly including quiz master Mike Lewis, whose day job is one of the Bank’s senior relationship directors.
Peter Fernandez, corporate director at RBS International, who led the organisation of the quiz, commented:
‘This is a real team effort on the part of corporate banking and business services staff though I would like to especially thank Denise Evans and Gemma Greenslade for their help in the build up to the event. The clients who supported the event have been brilliant and nominated many of the charities who will benefit from the funds we have raised. Now in its eighth year, it is evidently becoming increasingly popular!’
Those charities to benefit include Male Uprising Guernsey; Guernsey Chest & Heart LBG; Guernsey MIND; Autism Guernsey; Guernsey Blind Association; Diabetes UK; Rotary Club of Guernsey - Stop Polio Now; Guernsey Voluntary Services; Guernsey Cheshire Home, GSPCA; Priaulx Premature Baby Fund; Le Rondin School & Centre; Help a Guernsey Child; Les Bourgs Hospice; Sarah Groves Foundation; Teenage Cancer Trust; The Ivy Trust; Guernsey Against Sex Trafficking, Cardiac Action Group; Eleanor Carey Foundation and Leukemia Research Fund –Guernsey.
