With just days to go to this year’s Harbour Carnival the event’s organisers, the Guernsey Round Table, is looking forward to another fun-filled family fund raising event. It will be opened by Luke Shaw, age 10, from Castel Primary School, winner of the Best Dressed Mini Duck competition.

Dustyn Molver from the Guernsey Round Table commented: ‘The last few days in the run up to Harbour Carnival are always hectic and this year is no exception. With such a range of things going on, we’re hoping as many people as possible will come along and support us on Friday evening.

‘Entry to all the races has now been opened for the first time to teenagers so if you’re 12 and over, it’s still not too late to register on our website. There are some great prizes on offer including four tickets courtesy of Bumblebee Boat Cruises for the man-power flight winners - definitely worth getting wet for!

‘If you prefer dry land, you can still buy a mini duck to enter the Mini Duck Race for a chance to win £250. On the night, we’ve got some great local bands to listen to, the RNLI’s The Spirit of Guernsey lifeboat will be moored up offering tours, there’ll be a fun Kids Zone to keep the younger ones active, as well as a fantastic choice of food and beverage stalls.’

Lisa Barnett from RBC Wealth Management is looking forward to Friday’s event which marks the 10th year of the company’s support: ‘On the day, a team of RBC volunteers, along with myself, will be selling mini ducks outside Next at lunch time and then we’ll all be down at the harbour later, shaking buckets and helping in any way we can. Plus RBC’s own Leo the Lion will be on hand to help make our anniversary year a roaring success!

‘We’re also launching the RBC Wealth Management Fundraising Cup this year which will be awarded to the individual or team that raises the most money per team member. The HUB’s Sunflower Project will receive 50% of the funds raised from the whole event and we’re obviously hoping that will be a meaningful amount.’
