The Butterfield Bolts claimed the top spot in the men’s competition for the fourth year in a row at the annual Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Inter-Firm Town Relay on Wednesday night.

The Bolts team, which included Danny Fooks, Ben Wadley, Tom Swane and Hywel Robinson, completed the relay in a combined time of 20:46. The Run Club won the women’s team competition with a combined time of 29:11 and Geomarine took the prize for the first mixed team across the finish line in 22:20.

The fastest male was Will Bodkin from KPMG who completed his one mile lap in 4:38 and Nat Whitty from Team Shed was once again the fastest female with a time of 5:09.

A record number of teams entered the relay this year, with 45 teams lining up compared to 33 teams last year. The course took the teams of four down the Truchot, along the Pollet, down the High Street, along the sea front, back along the Pollet and finally up Smith Street to finish.

The money raised from the event supports the Guernsey Island Amateur Athletics in attending the next Island Games.

Chris Colclough, Head of Portfolio Management at Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management in Guernsey, said: “We have sponsored the Inter-firm Relay for 12 years and this year was the best yet. It was fantastic to see a record number of teams enter and so many supporters turn out to cheer them on. The race has grown year on year and has become a highly competitive but enjoyable annual event for local businesses.”

The Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Men’s team crossed the line in ninth place with a time of 23:15, while the Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Women achieved a time of 36:24.
