The winner of the 2015 Guernsey Rotary Youth Speaks competition was Guernsey Grammar School in both the intermediate and senior sections.
The strength and quality of the presentations from all of the entrant schools was very high and the judging panel once again had a difficult task of selecting winners.
The topics chosen by the winning teams were "Mary Berry for Prime Minister" (Intermediate) and "Dinner with Ozymandias" (Senior).
The overall winner going through to the District Heat in Devon on 7 March was the senior team that comprised :-
· Chair - Tabitha Wherry
· Main Speaker - Cameron Oldfield
· Vote of Thanks - Kirsty Dempster
Organiser Rotarian Simon Milsted said, "Once again the room was amazed by the confidence and strength of the whole field. In differing ways each presentation proved to be insightful and thought provoking, yet extremely entertaining. All our Schools should be congratulated for the quality of the students that they field in the competition. Youth Speaks is a pleasure to host with our partners, Mourant Ozannes and continues to be one of the highlights of our Rotary calendar."
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the association between Mourant Ozannes and the Rotary Club of Guernsey, the organisers are inviting all previous winners to get in touch and let them know what they are doing now and how they are using the skills they developed when they competed in the Rotary Youth Speaks competition.
