The Committee for Employment and Social Security is pleased to publish an invitation for suppliers to participate in the first step of the procurement process for a Second Pillar Pension Scheme for Guernsey and Alderney.

In February 2016, the States of Deliberation discussed an outline proposal from the then Social Security Department for an auto-enrolment Second Pillar pension scheme which will encourage the population to make greater provisions for themselves for the future through pension savings. The States approved the principles for the introduction of such a Secondary Pension scheme. Detailed proposals are currently being developed and are likely to be brought before the States in 2018.

Deputy Michelle Le Clerc, President of the Committee for Employment & Social Security, said:

“Part of those detailed proposals will involve a pension provider, selected through a competitive tender exercise. Before undertaking the tender exercise for a pension provider, the Committee for Employment & Social Security are seeking to establish the level of interest there might be for the delivery of the scheme administration and to further inform the Committee on how to refine the technical specification for the potential procurement.”

Interested suppliers should register their interest on www.channelislandtenders.com, the online tender portal for the States of Guernsey States of Jersey. The closing date for responses is Friday, 7 July.
