Sure employee first in Channel Islands with specialist cybersecurity certification

A Sure employee in Guernsey has become the first Information Systems Security Architecture Professional in the Channel Islands.

Scott Kenyon earned the CISSP-ISSAP cybersecurity certification - an architect specialisation focusing on designing security solutions and providing senior management with risk-based guidance - earlier this year and became the first certified professional in the Channel Islands.

James McEwan, chief enterprise architect at Sure, said: “The team at Sure would like to congratulate Scott on the completion of his cybersecurity qualifications and we’re especially pleased that he is the first in the Channel Islands to gain the CISSP-ISSAP certification.

“Sure is very proud to be Employer of the Year in Guernsey and a big part of winning this accolade was the importance we place on professional development. Everyone at Sure is encouraged to undertake qualifications supported by the company to further their careers through professional education and give them the opportunity to develop expert skills and knowledge in their respective fields.

“Scott’s expertise in the specialist area of information security and data protection will enhance Sure’s capabilities in preparing for and responding to external cyber-threats which is a huge benefit to all of Sure’s customers and the wider local business community.”

The CISSP-ISSAP cybersecurity certification builds on Mr Kenyon’s previous Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) qualification, which is held by only five other people in Guernsey.

The CISSP and CISSP-ISSAP are cybersecurity certifications run by ICS2, the world’s leading cybersecurity and IT security professional organisation.

Mr Kenyon is currently a security architect at the local telecoms company, a position he has held since 2016, and he assists in the design of solutions and mentors Sure technical teams around the world.
