The Channel Islands' leading trust and private client professionals will meet twice this week, each time to hear 25 top international practitioners speak about the latest developments in their industry, notably with Jersey and Guernsey hosting 25 different speakers each.

The International Trust and Private Client events, which are jointly presented by Mourant Ozannes and IBC Global Conferences, involve many of the leading international experts in the private client field.

The theme of this year's events is "Trustees' duties, pitfalls and escape routes" and they will discuss the implications of recent cases such as Prest and the ambit of Public Trustee v Cooper as well as debating issues such as the lengths to which Jersey has gone in protecting trustees, the brave new world for Jersey charities and community property in Guernsey.

In Guernsey the keynote address will be given by Lieutenant Bailiff of the Royal Court of Guernsey, Hazel Marshall QC, and in Jersey Chief Minister Ian Gorst will address delegates. Speakers have been drawn from leading law firms and trust companies in the Channel Islands, the UK, Europe, the Caribbean and the US, including Mourant Ozannes, Farrer & Co, Withers and Sullivan & Cromwell. Butterfield, Serle Court and Nerine Trust are sponsoring the events.

Douglas Close, head of Mourant Ozannes' International Trusts & Private Client practice, said: "There has been another very strong response from the industry to these forums this year. They are always very well attended and clearly the calibre of speakers lined up for the 2014 events has generated significant interest in attending. Mourant Ozannes is the leading offshore law firm in this sector so we are very proud to bring these speakers to the Channel Islands."

The ITPC Forums will take place at the Old Government House Hotel in Guernsey on 29 April and at L'Horizon Hotel in Jersey on 1 May.
