ZEDRA has strengthened its compliance capabilities with an associate director appointment.

Andrew Lacey has 18 years’ experience as a compliance, audit and risk specialist. As head of ZEDRA’s compliance function, he will act as compliance officer and money laundering reporting officer for the Guernsey office, and will report to the board on compliance matters.

His appointment follows significant investment by ZEDRA to grow its business, opening several new offices, introducing new products and services, strengthening existing operations and expanding core business opportunities.

"Compliance is an ever-changing and evolving environment. The recent MoneyVal report and the introduction of more guidance to enhance Guernsey as a financial jurisdiction will bring more pressure to compliance officers to integrate new policies and procedures into the working environment. Offshore territories continually come under scrutiny and we, in the finance industry, must ensure that we are prepared for any challenges we may encounter. I am joining ZEDRA at a very interesting time and am looking forward to enhancing the company’s already robust compliance and risk offering," said Mr Lacey.

Mr Lacey, who was educated at Elizabeth College, joins ZEDRA from Intertrust Risk Solutions where he was operations manager and compliance consultant leading the team providing compliance advice and support to local businesses. Prior to this he held compliance roles at Artemis Trustees and Northern Trust.  Before these compliance roles he worked for the States of Guernsey, where he held various administration, finance, audit and managerial roles.

A Fellow and Certified Professional Member of the International Compliance Institute and a Certified Professional Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Mr Lacey is also a qualified risk professional.

"Andrew has a broad range of experience, gained from working in the public sector as well as for a number of local and international companies within the private sector. His understanding of both our clients’ requirements and the wider regulatory context will help him to further develop ZEDRA’s overall compliance function," said Julien Sharpe, managing director of ZEDRA Trust (Guernsey).

ZEDRA operates in 10 international locations, including Guernsey where it currently employs around 50 people. The ZEDRA name launched in Guernsey earlier this year after family-owned ZEDRA bought Barclay’s trust and fiduciary business.
