PwC Channel Islands demonstrates confidence in the Channel Islands by welcoming biggest ever intake for Class of 2013

PwC Channel Islands has continued to lay the foundations for sustainable long-term growth in the Channel Islands by welcoming its biggest ever annual intake of graduates and school leavers across its Jersey and Guernsey offices.

PwC Channel Islands has continued to lay the foundations for sustainable long-term growth in the Channel Islands by welcoming its biggest ever annual intake of graduates and school leavers across its Jersey and Guernsey offices.

As part of this year’s ‘Class of 2013’, the Jersey and Guernsey offices of PwC have welcomed a total of 38 new recruits – a 15% increase on last year’s intake. The new recruits, who are all now embarking on a three year training programme to gain professional qualifications, reflect a wealth of home-grown talent, including school leavers who excelled at A-Levels and local graduates with strong degrees.  Also amongst the new intake are a number of high quality undergraduates on industry placements and graduates from the UK, further enhancing the diversity of the Channel Islands business.

Of the 21 individuals joining the Jersey office, eleven are Jersey residents: Beth Sinclair, who completed her A-Levels at Canford School in Dorset last year before returning to Jersey; Dominic Gauvin, who was educated at De La Salle College and attended the University of Southampton graduating in Mathematical and Computational Sciences; James Cartwright, who studied at De La Salle College where he completed his A-Levels; Guy Sinclair, who graduated with a degree in Accountancy from Cardiff University this year; James Torvaney, who undertook his A-Levels at Yarm School in the UK; John James who was educated at Victoria College and who graduated with a degree in Forensic Science from Bournemouth University; Marie Le Chevalier, who was educated at Grainville School and completed her A-Levels at Hautlieu School; Rowan Spencer, who undertook his A-Levels at Victoria College; Simon de Gruchy, who was educated at Victoria College and graduated from Brunel University with a degree in Motorsport Engineering; Hayley Bisson, who was educated at Hautlieu School, and studied at Lincolnshire & Humberside University and then Nottingham University where she graduated in Legal Practice; and Sacha Gallichan, who was educated at Jersey College for Girls and obtained a LLB (Hons) Law from Bristol University this year.

A further ten recruits move to Jersey: Ade Tokan, from London, who is on a placement year as part of his studies at the University of Nottingham; Alex Durrans from Middlesex, who is on a placement year from the University of Bath; Dominic Spiers from Exton, who graduated in History from Sheffield University; former Bristol resident Evie Hindle, who is on a placement year as part of her degree at the University of Exeter; Francesca Griffiths from Greater Manchester, who attended Salford University and studied Accounting, Banking and Finance; George Weeks who moves from Buckinghamshire and is a graduate in Economics from the University of Portsmouth; Marie Catbagan from Surrey, who is a graduate in Business and Management from Aston University;  Rosemary Duckworth, who lived in Warwickshire and who graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MA in Political and Social Anthropology; Victoria Carr from London, who completed Scottish Highers in nine subjects; and Michael Mallon, who moves from PwC Edinburgh.

In Guernsey, of the 17 new recruits, four are local individuals:  Aoiffe Mooney, who was educated at Guernsey Grammar School and graduated from Newcastle University in Physiological Sciences; Mark Abbosh, who graduated from Southampton University in Accounting, Banking and Finance; Oliver Nightingale, who was educated at Elizabeth College where he completed his A-Levels this year; and Pierce Gregory who recently completed his A-Levels at Elizabeth College.

A further 13 individuals move to Guernsey: Ashley Burdett, from Hampshire and who is a graduate from the University of Warwick in Mathematical & Computational Sciences; Harry Tobin from Bristol and who studied Accounting and Finance at Swansea University; Joel Hipple, who relocates from Devon having completed his studies in Business and Management from the University of Exeter; Kyran Thomas, who graduated with a LLB Law from London LSE University in 2011 and completed a Legal Practice course at BPP Law School in 2012; Luke Parvin, who moves from London and attended the University of Exeter, graduating in Business & Management in 2009 and Accountancy, Banking & Finance in 2011; Luke Thomas, who lived in Cardiff and who graduated in Accounting and Finance from the University of Exeter; Marcus Economides, a graduate from the University of Leeds in Economics & Philosophy; Michael Daly, who attended the University of Glasgow, graduating in Accounting, Banking & Finance; Oliver Knight from Sussex, who is a graduate in Business and Management from the University of Leeds; Pawel Gorczyca who attended Aberdeen University, graduating in Economics; Pulkit Sharma, who moves from Northfield and is on a placement year as part of his studies at Aston University; Rab Selvaratnam, from Hertfordshire and who holds the Diploma in Accounting and Business; and William Cole, who lived in Valais and graduated in Accounting, Banking and Finance from Newcastle University.
