JOIN OUR AIRPORT RESCUE AND FIREFIGHTING TEAM Safety doesn’t happen by
accident Everyone knows that creating
a safe environment doesn’t happen by accident. Which is why the women and men
of our airport rescue and firefighting teams spend the majority of their time working
on the proactive prevention of incidents and accidents and monitor airside
safety whilst being meticulously prepared for any eventuality should an
emergency happen.
People, planes, premises and
airside security perimeters all come under our extremely varied and unusually
wide range of airside safety responsibilities across the airport’s day-to-day operations.
Also, with the diverse activities across the Ports of Jersey business, we enthusiastically
engage with colleagues across the harbour, marina and coastguard, as well as ground
handling agencies, to support a broader safety programme. In addition to keeping your specialist skills
and fitness levels at their peak with continuous training and simulation
exercises, you’ll be involved with providing on-site paramedic expertise, maintaining
fire-fighting equipment, keeping wildlife away from the airfield, delivering
fire evacuation and first-aid courses and so much more. And, because we’re open 365 days a year,
you’ll be working on a rotating shift system.
Of course, a good level of
fitness and eyesight, along with a clean driving licence and being able to
obtain and maintain a HGV one, are essential. Initial training is intense and your
competence across the different disciplines will be assessed on a rolling basis. We’re
interested in what you can bring to this team rather than what you’ve done in
the past.
