Full Description
Can you turn your hand to almost anything? If so, come and join our small but long-established team helping to keep the infrastructure at Jersey Airport in great working condition. In this unique environment, you'll need a good set of practical general maintenance skills and proven experience. And we'll provide all the specialist training you'll need to learn new skills to successfully tackle our diverse activities.
This is a hands-on role, often physically demanding and generally outdoors where every day is different and rewarding for a highly regulated planned as well as ad hoc maintenance and repair programme. This can include working on drainage systems, concrete/shuttering, block work, fencing, environmental protection, reed beds, grass and habitat management, painting runway markings, keeping our airside and landside areas clean and tidy – on rare occasions you may even find yourself clearing snow from the runway or supporting the Harbour team by slipway cleaning!
Whatever it is, you’ll take pride in getting the job done brilliantly.
You’ll be expected to drive trucks, tractors, forklifts and other equipment so an HGV licence is essential. Most likely you’ve already worked in agriculture, construction or similar sectors and, most importantly, can turn your hand to almost anything.
With a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude, you’ll support colleagues, use your initiative pragmatically and take personal ownership dependably and reliably.
You’ll also need clear and confident communication skills, particularly when you’re airside talking on the radio to air-traffic control.
This is a permanent full-time role, with some shift work and great job satisfaction.
