Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Security, the Airport Security Operations Managers are responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of security operations within the airport environment. This role also requires a strong focus on customer-centric practices, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of all passengers and personnel. With management oversight of the security teams, lead and motivate the teams, implement efficient security protocols, coordinate with law enforcement agencies, and implement measures to mitigate security risks and threats whilst collaborating with various stakeholders to maintain a secure and welcoming atmosphere.

Main duties:
  • Support the Head of Security in delivering security strategies, aligned to the overall SBP and organisation direction, that prioritise both customer safety and satisfaction.
  • Lead and motivate a diverse team of security officers, fostering a professional, positive and collaborative culture, empowering the security team to excel in their roles while contributing to an overall welcoming atmosphere at the airport whilst ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and customer service standards.
  • Develop and implement effective security protocols, including screening procedures, internal policy and procedures, access control measures, and emergency response plans, to safeguard passengers, employees, and airport assets.
  • Foster a customer-centric culture among the security team, emphasising courteous and helpful interactions with passengers while maintaining vigilance and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with airport management, airlines, law enforcement agencies, regulators and regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to coordinate security efforts, address security concerns, and enhance the overall passenger experience.
  • Ensure regular training sessions are organised for security staff to ensure KPI targets and regulatory requirements are met, proficiency in security procedures, customer service skills, conflict resolution, and emergency response protocols.
  • Ensure appropriate training and recruitment records are maintained for audit purposes.
  • Ensure ongoing risk assessments to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities, and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks and enhance security effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards and industry best practice, such as AvSec and HSE, maintaining a high level of security readiness at all times.
  • Responsible for weekly and monthly audits, and promptly implement corrective measures as necessary
  • Responsible for the coordination of external audits, liaising with auditors and communicating with the team on audit dates, findings and corrective action plans.
  • Manage security incidents, including security breaches, disturbances, and emergencies, by coordinating response efforts, conducting investigations, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Stay abreast of emerging security technologies and integrate them judiciously to enhance airport security.
  • As a manager of people, the postholder is responsible for the full employee life cycle, from being a Ports Ambassador during recruitment, manage onboarding and induction, security clearances, through to leaver, prioritising wellbeing and job satisfaction along the way, addressing employee concerns promptly, ensuring effective communication channels and fostering a collaborative environment.
