JAYF is
a charity which provides supervised hostel accommodation to young people (18–25
years old) who might otherwise be homeless. We are committed to the safeguarding and promoting of
the welfare of the people we provide care and support to.
Our activities are driven by
the JAYF Manager but, with the demands on our services increasing, and the
prospect of the expansion of our portfolio of hostels, assistance is needed.
We thus
have a vacancy for an Assistant, on a part-time basis (between 15 and 20 hours
a week).
Key
responsibilities include:
Assisting with our admission process, in which
potential tenants are considered, and the subsequent induction process for
new tenants
Liaise with third parties on behalf of JAYF as
appropriate
Collate and provide information to tenants on
social and behavioural issues
Liaise with the Hostel Guardians as specific
issues arise – and be ‘on call’ during leave absences of our Manager
Oversee the departure of tenants – room inspections,
returns of deposits etc
Support the JAYF Manager in other activities
as appropriate.
We are

Able to
develop a rapport and apply a caring approach with young people
Common
sense, pragmatic approach to issues
Good
communication skills
Understanding
of the importance of safeguarding, diversity and inclusion
