La Mare Wine Estate and Distillery is a
unique venue situated in the beautiful Jersey countryside, comprising a
working estate of vineyards, orchards and beautiful grounds. Established in 1972, La Mare has grown from
a small vineyard into a busy tourism attraction, wedding and corporate venue
as well as producing a range of local products. Set in the peaceful grounds of a
traditional 18th century granite farmhouse, La Mare Wine Estate is
a working 25 acre domain, committed to creating the very best wines, ciders
and spirits, along with hand-made preserves, fudge, chocolates and Jersey
Black Butter, produced within the Genuine Jersey range.
The estate itself is a fascinating
combination of history and tradition.
Comprising of historic buildings and beautiful gardens; extensive
vineyards and orchards; function rooms, a winery, distillery and estate
kitchens which produce genuine jersey produce. The Estate offers the highest quality
Weddings, Corporate Events, Tours and Tastings and produces a range of
delicious products all made on the Estate.
In addition to the main Estate, the company also has two retail
outlets situated in King Street, and at the Airport selling products from
Jersey producers as well as the Estate range.
The
Role
As The Bookkeeper and
Administrator you will be responsible for leading the business administration
and financial processes as well as supporting with the governance
administration of the Company.
You will lead and direct the
administration and finance functions within this well-established
company. You will lead the operation
of these areas to ensure the admin and finance functions contribute
positively to providing exceptional processes required for the efficient and
effective operation of the business.
Responsibilities
As well as being able to
demonstrate the core competencies of the organisation and the specialist competences
required of the role there are a number of specific tasks that will be
routinely required of the post holder.
In addition, the post holder is required to carry out any task
necessary to ensure we continually deliver exceptional service to our
customers. The job specific tasks are
detailed below.
Key
tasks
1.
The Bookkeeper and Administrator
is responsible overseeing the operation of the administration and finance
functions required to effectively operate the business.
2.
Leadership and line management
of colleagues detailed above, planning and directing their work to ensure the
functions are delivered to an exceptional standard.
3.
Development, implementation and
monitoring of services standards across the areas of finance and admin.
4.
Operational management of our
administration and finance functions including the development of procedures,
and policies, including compliance with legal, governance and statutory
requirements required in line with the effective operation of a company.
5.
Ensure bank accounts and control
accounts are reconciled on a regular basis.
6.
Operational management of human
resource processes, including the management of payroll and submission of
monthly/quarterly returns.
7.
Co-ordinate and collate
quarterly stock takes.
8.
Manage and monitor the
performance of your team, including the undertaking of performance
development reviews and implementing team and individual development plans.
9.
Act as part of the management
team.
10.
Work effectively with the Managing
Director, Company Accountant and department
heads to ensure seamless communication and to support activity across the
company.
11.
Manage the governance
requirements of the company.
