The Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority is responsible
for regulating competition, mergers
and acquisitions, Ports, Post and Telecommunications in Jersey. We provide guidance
to businesses and advise the Government of Jersey on policy, while maintaining the
Authority’s independence. The Authority has developed a work program for 2021, supporting
all areas of the Authority’s responsibilities. In 2020, the Authority returned to operating
independently. We are now looking to
appoint a permanent CEO to provide strong leadership to the Authority and its
employees. The CEO will
report to the Chair and deal with subject matter which is varied, technically complex,
highly sensitive and material to the economic success of Jersey. The Authority also has a role in representing
the Authority overseas. The role of the reconstituted Authority is a dynamic and evolving
one and often includes a mixture of contentious and
non-contentious work. The CEO will need good judgment and the
ability to adapt their style when dealing with a diverse range of issues and
stakeholders. The CEO will join the Board as its executive Member and make
recommendations to the Board, as well as lead a high calibre team. The successful candidate will have excellent C- level leadership skills and board level
experience. They will be able to
demonstrate their knowledge and experience of Jersey and their understanding of
the island’s structures, political framework and culture.
The CEO is the public face of the Authority and as such, the
successful candidate will have excellent communication and public speaking
skills and established relationships with a wide range of local stakeholder
groups.
. All applicants must be entitled to work in Jersey and the
successful candidate will be required to live in Jersey. The JCRA welcomes applications from qualified
candidates regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or
disability.
