The
Société Jersiaise is looking for a Collections Assistant to work in the
Photographic Archive.
Our team manage over 125,000 physical and digital
photographs dating from the 1840s to 2023. The collections represent one of
Jersey’s key cultural heritage assets with a wealth of historical, social,
scientific, commercial, and environmental resources. The Collections Assistant
will be responsible for delivering central aspects of the department’s access
and preventative preservation functions.
You will need proven
administrative experience to handle our research, enquiries and requests. As
well as strong knowledge of photography and digital camera equipment, you need Microsoft
365, Freshdesk, MS Forms, MS Planner and Adobe Creative Cloud applications;
especially Photoshop competence plus some experience using Capture One.
We want this role to conduct independent
research and show an appetite to build a knowledge of Jersey heritage and
history so you can get the most from our collections and images, exhibitions
and storing of materials. To succeed in all the various types of administration
and records you will require an exceptional flair for sorting and improving
systems and keeping them up to date.
