Job purposeReporting
to the Head of Commercial and as a key member of a small team, the role holder
will manage and oversee Ports of Jersey’s retail and other concessions and all
other non-aeronautical and non-maritime commercial activities. Responsible to
drive growth in revenue across all areas, in line with the Company’s strategic
plans and budget assumptions by maximising performance of current business
partners and developing opportunities for new initiatives and growth. To assist the Head of Commercial in other
aspects of the business, including aeronautical and maritime commercial
activity, business analytics and business performance management.
Key responsibilities
· Assist
in the continuing commercial success and further growth of our non-aeronautical
and non-maritime revenues, encompassing all categories including duty free
retail, food and beverage, specialist retail, forex, car parking, car hire, advertising,
surface access, and commercial property.
· Develop
and implement commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives
aiming to accelerate growth and optimise use of assets.
· Assist
in the preparation and delivery and continued regular reporting of the commercial
revenue budget each year.
· Assist
project teams in current and future planned commercial development, ensuring
deadlines on completion are kept on track.
· Research
new opportunities and provide strategic insight to grow commercial return and
to develop concession partner agreements that ensure the best possible use is
made of commercial opportunity and asset utilisation.
· Build
relationships with new and existing business partners, ensuring focus is on best-in-class
product and customer service, operational standards, whilst optimising financial
performance.
· Carry
out regular performance reviews with business partners and ensure compliance with
all service and regulatory requirements.
· Analyse
sales, marketing, financial and other reports to gain insights into how to
improve performance and maximize growth.
· Conduct
and review contract negotiations.
Build and maintain profitable partnerships with
key stakeholders.
Key skills
Essential
· Proven
ability to influence and collaborate with varied personnel in a coordinated and
effective manner in both planned and unplanned circumstances.
· Must
have proven experience in retail or related business development, customer
management and sales.
·
Proven
experience in commercial negotiation and contracts management.
· Excellent
verbal and written communication (including presentational) skills.
· Demonstrate
a high level of knowledge, skills and experience, including contract
preparation, in a relevant commercial field.
· Must
have excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
Preferable
· Knowledge
and experience of working within the aviation or maritime industry is desirable
to maintain a broad depth of knowledge to support our customers.
· Educated
to degree level (or equivalent), or graduate calibre with suitable experience
ideally in a discipline of retail, transportation, business management or
commercial finance.
· Management
of staff and/or multiple projects.
· Sales
experience (business and/or consumer).
· Property/lease Management.
