Channel Islands Business Overview

J.P. Morgan in the Channel Islands is aligned with the firms’ Corporate and Investment Banks Investors Services business. Our Channel Islands offices provide a full suite of fund and trustee services to a diverse range of investment structures. 

These services are offered through 3 Jersey and 2 Guernsey regulated entities with a range of financial services licences including: Trust Company Business; Fund Services Business; AIF Services Business and Banking Business. 

Job Summary The role, based in Jersey, will be to assist the Head of Depositary with varied activities in order to move the business forward and to provide Depositary services support to our clients and their funds domiciled in the Channel Islands. It also offers an opportunity to join one of the largest providers of Trustee and Depositary services in Europe with 13 locations servicing in excess of 2,700 funds. 

Key Responsibilities

• Act as depositary for Channel Island domiciled funds, liaising with clients, third party administrators and in-house service suppliers to ensure adherence to both regulatory codes and fund rules through the performance of daily, monthly and annual reviews
• Director role for Jersey regulated JP Morgan Trust Company
• Maintain standard operating procedures and regulatory matrices
• Regular interaction with clients at a senior level including presenting at client board meetings
• Attend monthly client and depositary support service calls
• Annual oversight visits to clients and JP Morgan operation centres 　
• Attend and present to local risk and oversight committees
• Maintain an up to date knowledge of regulatory, industry and client matters 
• Support business development and attend prospect meetings 
• Support local office business initiatives

Essential skills/experience Must be suitability qualified, including approval by regulator, JFSC, to act as a Principal Person. Approval is based on experience and exam qualification to meet the competency requirements of the Jersey regulations (codes of practice) for Trust Company business. Working experience in custody, fund valuations, accounting and transfer agency services. A good understanding of Channel Islands regulatory environment for Funds and Trusts. Client relationship skills. Risk management and controls skills. High attention to detail and ability to work on own initiative. Good report writing and technical skills
