Caring Cooks is a Jersey based charity founded on the philosophy that good food and nutrition from birth and through a child’s life is crucial to successful development in all areas of their lives.   

We have recently secured a contract to deliver a school catering service to 5 secondary schools in Jersey and as such our team has grown to over 30 people, so we are looking to recruit a HR Officer to support the Chief Executive Officer in all areas of HR.

Main duties and responsibilities   ·      
Working closely with other departments, increasingly acting as a consultancy professional, and assisting the line managers in understanding and implementing procedures and policies.
·       Recruiting staff which includes creating and developing job descriptions, providing support in preparing advertisements, screening application forms, short-listing the candidates, interviewing and selecting them. ·       Developing HR policies on issues like working conditions, equal opportunities, performance, management, absence management, and disciplinary procedures. ·       Advising on pay including employee benefits and promotion and other issues on remuneration. ·       Undertaking usual salary reviews, negotiating on issues regarding pay and conditions with staff and representatives. ·       Administering payroll system and maintaining staff related records. Ensuring that department managers receive an accurate and timely assistance in response to particular queries related to HR policies or other aspects of employment legislation. ·       Interpreting and notifying employees on employment legislation. ·       Developing HR strategic plans with line managers and the Chief Executive, in terms of skill and number levels in considerations with long-term and immediate staff requirements. ·       Listening to grievances of employees and implementing appropriate disciplinary procedures ·       Supporting Line Managers on delivery of performance reviews ·       Planning of training and ensuring it’s completed by employees ·       Development and delivery of induction programs for new hires. ·       Advising management on career development, work matters, industrial matters, and personal problems. ·       Maintaining employee records on Breathe HR ·       Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resource information confidential. ·       Maintains quality service by following organization standards   This list isn’t exhaustive and the role will likely entail other tasks as it develops.  

Education, skills and Experience
·      
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
·       Ideally a HR qualification or extensive experience in previous HR roles ·       Familiarity with Microsoft office software essential ·       Ideally familiar with Breathe HR ·       Good organizational and interpersonal skills ·       Ability to understand comprehensive information. ·       Basic numeracy and IT skills required for operating various systems. ·       Ability to interpret, analyze, and explain the official framework employment regulation. ·       Integrity and friendly approachability. ·       Good negotiating and influencing skills in implementing personnel policies. ·       Ability to research, evaluate and analyze new recruitment techniques, methods, and procedures. ·       Able to work alone on a broad variety of projects.   The role requires 5 years residency and will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
