We are looking to recruit three Information Services and Postal Clerks to join our busy team.  Two will be on a fixed term contract for the Summer months and during the winter months there is the opportunity for zero hours.  The third vacancy is on a zero hour contract basis to provide cover throughout the year.

About the role and what you can expect
Here at Ports of Jersey we want everyone who travels through our Airport terminal to have a great experience. Our team running the Information Desk based in the departures Hall at Jersey Airport pride themselves on delivering exemplary customer service, even during extremely pressurised times such as inclement weather and delays, they always remain calm and professional.

Without a doubt , the role can be extremely challenging at times and so the ability to act quickly under pressure, de-escalate conflict and show empathy whilst making decisions and acting on your own initiative for the best interests of the customer and Ports of Jersey is a skill you’ll come to relying on.

You’ll have a ‘can do’ attitude, nothing really fazes you, you have a vast amount of customer service experience and delivering the ultimate customer experience is at the heart of everything you do.

Multitasking isn’t a problem for you, in fact you thrive on being busy, sometimes the role can be pressurised but you always maintain good customer service and professionalism, you think on your feet and take ownership of your decisions as often you are loan working and can be at work on an early shift, a day shift or a late shift, sometimes on the late shifts you are required to stay on later as the airport has granted an extension to allow the airport to remain open for all our passengers to arrive/depart so that we can help facilitate them being where they need to be.  The late nights don’t bother you though as you have had experience of shift work before and thrive on it.

You naturally have empathy and want to support and help our passengers have an enjoyable experience through our airport.

You have a high standard of English both written and verbal and are proficient in IT Microsoft, we have other software packages that are unique to the role but you are not worried about this as all the training you require is provided. 

You may even speak a second language and in the travel industry this is always an advantage! You’ll have good knowledge of Ports of Jersey and what we do, you have a passion for the transport industry and may have had previous experience in the industry before.

The shift working times you can expect are early shift (0600-1339), a day shift (0800-1600) or a late shift (1340 – 2130)
