Who We Are: Montrose (www.montroseint.com) is a growing international development company with a Head Office in Jersey, Channel Islands, regional offices in Uganda and Myanmar. We work throughout Africa and Asia delivering health, education, enterprise and environmental projects for aid agencies such as the UK Government’s DFID and UN agencies, and private company clients.

What We Are Looking For: We require an ambitious and dynamic Marketing & Communications Officer to support our continued growth within the international development sector. You will be a core member of the Montrose team, working closely with our UK, Africa and Asia-Pacific regional offices.   As a growing company, we are looking for an individual who has bright ideas and can implement the company’s marketing and communications strategy; managing project-specific communications including online, website and social media platforms; communications and IT support to projects, offices and bid development; capacity building on marketing & communications within the company; as well as project management support. The role offers exciting opportunities for travel within the UK, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

 Core Responsibilities:
Company Communications and Marketing: You will
  • Develop and implement the marketing and communications strategy for Montrose
  • Design communication and marketing materials for the company, subsidiaries and projects
  • Design and manage our social media platforms, and lead the design and content management of the company website.
    Provide technical support to the Montrose team during the development of proposal for new projects.  

Project Communications: You will   

  • Lead the development of marketing and communication materials for our diverse range of projects, including project updates on social media
  • Travel to the projects across a range of developing countries, to document project impact and outcomes, and provide communications support to project staff.
 
Technical Support: You will
  • Be responsible for delivering capacity building and mentoring within the company and to Project Knowledge Management and Communications personnel.  

Required Skills and Qualifications
 
  • Degree in marketing and communications, web design and development, and/or other relevant discipline   
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience – preferably in developing contexts   
  • Excellent written and spoken English – additional languages a bonus   
  • Excellent web development and database management skills   
  • Good knowledge of relevant computer software packages   
  • Comprehensive experience designing and managing diverse social media platforms   
  • Excellent editorial and writing skills   
  • Desire to learn and take on new challenges   
  • Right to work and reside in either Jersey, Channel Islands   
  • Ability to travel within Africa and Asia-Pacific as appropriate   
  • Familiarity with database and web design software   
  • Skills and experience in graphic design   
  • Project management skills and experience   
  • Interest in international development
Degree in marketing and communications, web design and development, and/or other relevant discipline
