Full Description

To assist the Passenger Services department to ensure the efficient running of Ports of Jersey Harbours and Airport, by delivering excellent customer service for all our passengers and providing top notch cleaning services to meet the needs of the travelling public. The role also entails Traffic Parking Control and daily Health & Safety checks.

Main responsibilities: ·        

  • As part of our in-house cleaning team, the post holder is responsible for carrying out the set daily cleaning programme throughout the Ports of Jersey terminals and act upon initiative to provide subsequent spot cleaning as circumstances dictate throughout the shift. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that they play their part in delivering high standards of cleanliness across the business. ·        
  • Provide a full and efficient porterage service for both departing and arriving passengers, by assisting with passengers’ personal baggage, ensuring departing passengers are directed to their correct check-in desk, and routing arriving passengers to their onward transport, liaising with their tour operators as required. ·        
  • Maintain a high profile in all public areas by ensuring that no area is left unattended, thereby maintaining a clean environment and always being available to answer passengers’ questions and provide direction as required.
  • Carry out regular Health and Safety checks across the Ports of Jersey estate and reporting any issues or reactive maintenance requirements.
  • Act as Fire Warden (after appropriate training) in the event of the evacuation of the terminal buildings, assisting with the clearance of staff and public to the safety of an assembly point. ·        
  • Return trolleys from all areas back to the main terminal building(s) and maintain a regular supply of trolleys at each collection point. ·        
  • Emptying of external bins at the Harbour terminals.             

Key skills and experience:

  • A good standard of education to GCSE level (or equivalent) is essential with written English and numeracy a key requirement.
  • Previous customer service experience is essential.
  • The ability to speak some French would be an asset. Knowledge of other languages and compatible work experience would be an advantage.
  • A recognised clean Driving Licence.
  • IT Skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Office 365).
  • Previous cleaning experience would be advantageous.

  • Must have strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Be a good team player.
  • Adaptable and flexible to an ever changing working environment. 
  • Working on own initiative.
