Full Description

Based at Elizabeth Terminal, and working across the maritime estate, a Port Security and Operations (“PSO”) Agent plays a critical role by acting as a friendly, knowledgeable, helpful point of contact to enhance the passenger experience. 

PSO Agents also ensure the safety and security of passengers through the search and screening of both passengers and vehicles transiting through to the restricted security areas.

Key Responsibilities

•  In line with the UK Department for Transport MARSEC regulations, security searching and screening of all personnel (passengers, contractors, employees) and vehicles transiting through to the restricted security areas.  
• Provide a welcoming experience for all our passengers (including cruise ship passengers) at the Harbour, offering assistance with various aspects of their journey.   
• Responsible for carrying out the set daily cleaning programme through the terminal and act upon initiative to provide subsequent spot cleaning as circumstances dictate throughout the shift.   
• Walk the terminal and maritime estate, providing an information service and answering passenger and port/marina user enquiries. 
• Provide support to passengers with reduced mobility and those requiring special assistance, ensuring their needs are met promptly and with care.  
• Carry out health and safety checks of the terminal and marina facilities and report faults and safety concerns to the relevant Team Leader. 
• Act on requests from the Marine Operations Centre (the “MOC”) with port user enquiries.
• Daily Security Patrols in ISPS Restricted Areas, such as the New North Quay (“NNQ”).       
• Support with parking engagement with our stakeholders and closing off parking spaces/deploying road closure signs across the maritime estate.  
• Ensure the security of the restricted area is maintained when contractors or other personnel need entry to work within the terminal building/secure areas and act as an escort as and when required for non-passholders.  
• Assist passengers in emergency situations and at times of delay, helping to organise sleeping arrangements and issue blankets to night-stopping passengers.  
• Act as terminal Fire Warden in cases of emergency Fire Evacuation.
• Act as first responder to provide basic first aid.  
• Provide security and information at PoJ events, for example the Boat Show.  
• Support any PoJ commercially run retail offering (i.e. Duty Free).  
• Any other reasonable task or assistance required across the maritime estate or for maritime operations.
