Full Description

As Port Security and Operations Team Leader, you will lead and supervise the Port Security and Operations (“PSO”) Team and Zero Hour Security Agents ensuring that the terminal provides a welcome, seamless, safe and secure experience for all passengers.

Key Responsibilities

  • With support from the Port Operations Manager, co-ordinate, prioritise and supervise the allocation of PSO and Zero-hour Security Agents ensuring appropriate coverage including the management of rostering and approval of leave, TOIL and overtime.
  • Ensure PSO Agents maintain a high profile in all public areas, being available to answer passengers’ queries, providing direction as required and maintaining a safe environment, reporting any hazards or faults appropriately. 
  • Supported by the Ports Operations Manager, manage the training and mentoring of new employees and the recurrent training of existing employees.
  • Monitor the cleanliness, maintenance, and functionality of terminal facilities, reporting any issues for timely resolution. 
  • Conduct regular briefings with the team to communicate updates, operational changes and ensure continued teamworking. 
  • Support the team with PSO duties security and screening, passenger enquiries and assisting passengers with reduced mobility (“PRM’s”) 
  • Co-ordinate the assistance of passengers in emergency situations and at times of delay, helping to organise sleeping arrangements and issue blankets to night-stopping passengers.     
  • Act as terminal Fire Warden in cases of emergency Fire Evacuation. 
  • Act as first responder to provide basic First Aid.
  • Ensure the efficient opening and closing of the terminal by coordinating with the various port users for extended opening times where required in line with procedures. 
  • Identify areas and suggest strategies for process improvement and an enhanced passenger experience.
  • Check fortnightly cleaning contractors are meeting service level agreements. 
  • Submit EAM requests to GTS for any repairs or maintenance required around the harbour and terminal buildings. 
  • Any other reasonable task or assistance required across the maritime estate or for maritime operations.
