Full Description

To support the Head of Sustainability and Community Value in embedding our Community Value  and Sustainability strategy and Ports’ Planet and People plan, building relationships with community partners and organising, encouraging and coordinating Community Value and volunteering initiatives across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Sustainability and Community Value (HoS&CV) to communicate Ports’ Community Value and Sustainability strategy in a compelling and engaging way, promoting the successes and positive initiatives undertaken. 
  • Encourage cross-departmental volunteering initiatives to deliver Community Value, bringing the strategy to life, and support departments to build Community Value into business-as-usual activity, through personal conversation and organising activities that link the Community Value strategy objectives. 
  • Plan and deliver community value events with key colleagues, working with the HOS&CV to prepare budgets, track event finances, donations and contracts, coordinate logistics, as well as to ensure health and safety guidance is followed. 
  • Support the HoS&CV to make it easy for people to get involved with Community Value activities. 
  • Look after the Sustainability and Community Value inboxes and administration of grant requests, charitable donations, fundraising activities and Community Value working group, escalating for approval where required. 
  • Ensure governance with strategic direction and Community Value strategy.    
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for regular reports on Community Value activities across the business, detailing positive outcomes and challenges. 
  • Identify where initiatives are having the greatest impact to support the HoS&CV with reporting and the constant evolution the Community Value strategy.   
  • Support with the development and delivery of staff engagement programmes, including training and engagement initiatives, to embed Community Value into the business, and get employee buy-in and cooperation with the overall strategy and various streams of activity.
  • Work with the HoS&CV and the comms team to create engaging content (such as newsletters and Sharepoint articles) to keep employees informed about ongoing initiatives and successes.
  • Support to other team members with sustainability initiatives, events and administration when required.
