21-year-old admits drugs possession in Royal Court

Monday 22 March 2021

A 21-year-old has admitted possessing a wide variety of drugs, including ecstasy, cannabis and THC.

Bradley Peter Harrison, who was 20 when he committed the offences so is deemed a young offender in the eyes of the law, pleaded guilty to possession on various occasions between 24 April 2019 and 11 January this year, mostly at his home in St. Helier.

Appearing in the Royal Court on Friday, Harrison pleaded guilty to 14 charges – the majority for having small amounts of cannabis, ranging from 6mg to 16.4g.

He was also found with 15 ecstasy tablets, 1g of MDMA powder, just over 86g of THC, which is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis, and just under 1g of DMT, a hallucinogenic drug.

Despite both the defence and prosecution agreeing that Harrison should be remanded on conditional bail, the Court – with Lieutenant-Bailiff Anthony Olsen sitting with Jurats Ronge and Dulake – voiced concern that the defendant had committed some of 14 offences after he had been arrested in July 2019 and he had also breached a bail order.

However, the Court – after a lengthy period of deliberation - agreed to grant bail “by the slimmest of margins."

“If you breach your bail conditions again, there is no doubt you will go to prison,” the Lieutenant-Bailiff warned.

Harrison will be sentenced on 14 May.
