Royal Square and Les Quennevais most popular pop-up vax sites

The Royal Square saw the most success as a 'Rock Up' covid vaccination location, with nearly 50 jabs given there in a single morning.

Next most popular was Les Quennevais, where 30 came for a jab in a single morning, followed by Springfield (27 one afternoon) and the Esplanade (27 one morning).

The walk-in mobile clinics were set up across 14 days between 2 and 15 August in locations across the island as part of a drive to get more young people protected against covid. A total of 482 doses of the vaccine were given out at the clinics during this period.

Figures released following a Freedom of Information request have shown that of all of the dates, Monday 9 August was the most popular, with 48 islanders getting their vaccination at Royal Square, and 18 getting theirs at La Mare.

With the most amount of pop-ups scheduled in for it, Royal Square was also where the most jabs were given out, racking up nearly half with a total of 239.

The lowest number of doses was given out on Saturday 14 August, which saw 16 people turn up in the morning to St. Brelade's Bay for their jabs - however, whereas 10 of the 14 dates included both morning and afternoon sessions, this one was only a morning session.

The location attracting the least 'Rock Ups' was Five Oaks, which saw eight islanders get theirs at its one pop-up on Tuesday 4 August.

Out of all the session times, mornings were by far the most popular, with 317 islanders attending them, compared to the total of 165 that attended afternoon sessions.

Released on Monday, the Government's latest covid vaccine statistics showed that more than half (54%) of 18 to 29-year-olds have had their full vaccination, going up 2% from the previous week.

There was also a 9% increase on the previous week in 16 to 17-year-olds receiving their first doses, with 658 now having received theirs.

Last week, bookings also opened for 12 to 15-year-olds to receive the Pfizer/BioTech vaccine if they meet the following criteria:

  • aged 12 to 15 and have an underlying health condition that makes them at a higher risk of becoming seriously unwell (this includes a severe neuro-disability, cerebral palsy, down's syndrome, immunosuppression, or severe learning disability);

  • or aged 12 to 15 and live in the same household as someone who has immunosuppression (this includes someone who has HIV, transplant, receiving cancer treatment, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis).

As of Monday, two children aged under 15 had had their first jabs.

In total, 75,674 islanders had received their first jab, and 71,181 had received their second.
