A 50-year-old has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a man in his 60s who was found injured at Springfield Stadium.
Police confirmed in a short statement this morning that Brian McMahon had been charged with the alleged offence after Melvin Murphy (65, pictured top) passed away on Sunday night.
Mr Murphy was found in the grounds of Springfield Stadium on Saturday (21 September) night, having suffered severe injuries, and an ambulance was called for him.
He was taken to hospital, and described as being in "serious condition", but later passed away due to his injuries.
Tributes have since been paid to Mr Murphy, who was remembered as a “kind” and “respectful” man, who was “always smiling”.
Police said that they are continuing their appeal for witnesses.
They want to hear anyone who saw anything or with CCTV or dash-cam footage of the Springfield or Janvrin Road area.
