Adrian search “remains a missing person inquiry” – police

Wednesday 06 January 2016

Detectives leading the month-long search for missing Adrian Lynch say that the operation remains a missing person inquiry and that there is no evidence of anyone else being involved in his disappearance.

The police say that they are keeping an “open mind” as the search for the missing 20-year-old continues.

Their working theory is that Adrian was suffering from hypothermia and was disoriented, and that he has died.

"It is still a missing person inquiry and at this time there is no evidence to suggest that there is any third-party involvement," said a police spokesman.

"We remain open-minded and we are looking at other avenues."

Officers are still following up several lines of inquiry, including asking mechanics if they have seen any vehicles with unexplained damage that could have been caused by hitting someone.

After reviewing evidence from witness accounts and CCTV footage, they have also made specific appeals for the following people to come forward who may have information that could help:

- The driver and occupants of a silver car, thought to be a Citreon Saxo or a Volkswagen Polo, that was parked by Club Carrefour at around 11 pm, about an hour before Adrian was dropped off there by a taxi.

- A man who was hitch-hiking up Mont Felard at about half past midnight on Saturday, he was wearing a dark, long-sleeved jumper and jeans, of proportionate build, and possibly in his 30s or 40s. They would also like to speak to any driver who might have picked the man up.

- A taxi driver who took a woman from the Weighbridge to an address in Rue des Varvots in St Lawrence. The driver and passenger might have seen someone believed to be Adrian around Carrefour Selous on the way to their destination, and the driver may have seen something on his way back to town.

- Two people seen with a motorbike near the junction of Rue de la Mare Ballam and Le Neuf Chemin – just north of the main entrance to St John’s Manor – at around midnight. One of the people was sitting on the stationary bike, and the other was standing alongside on the road. The standing man was wearing a dark top, wearing dark, baggy trousers with a tight line running down one or both legs.

Anyone with any information should call the police on 612612 or on the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555111.
