Alderney seeks new CEO... again

Tuesday 03 January 2023

Alderney is seeking its third Chief Executive in just two years after the incumbent resigned.

The States of Alderney confirmed that it had accepted the resignation of Kathryn Jones “with regret” in a statement issued this morning.

Ms Jones served in the role since March 2021 and supported the island through the middle of the covid-19 pandemic, helping to alleviate disruption to public services.

The island's States also credited her for contributing to the creation of Alderney's Island Plan, allowing greater governmental focus on the “most important issues it faces”.

Ian Carter, Chair of Alderney’s Policy and Finance Committee, said: “I would like to thank Kath for her service on behalf of the States of Alderney, and to me personally, since taking up the role as chair of the Policy & Finance Committee. I wish her well for her future endeavours."

Ms Jones claimed it has been an honour “to work with so many talented, professional, and skilled staff in support of the States of Alderney and the community to help shape the strategic direction the island needs to place it in a better position.

“I would particularly like to acknowledge the professionalism, expertise and support provided to me to make these changes for the benefit of the community.”
