Are you lighting up Christmas?

Wednesday 21 December 2016

There are just few hours to go to see if you can be crowned as having the best Christmas lights display in Jersey, 2016.

The pictures on this story aren't from Jersey, and so don't count in the competition - but if you think you can beat them, please e-mail a picture, or preferably a link to a video, of your display to pictures@bailiwickexpress.com.

Entries can come from anyone, as long as you let us know the location of the display, and if you have it, the name of the person who created it.

On Friday, Alan Garnham, Jersey Electricity's Senior Production and Maintenance Engineer, who is responsible for running the La Collette Power Station, will be tasked with choosing from the collection of terrific, traditional and wonderfully tacky festive displays, with the winner announced on Christmas Eve.

He said: "At this time of year with the early dark nights its lovely to see the houses all lit up on my drive home and when out walking, they can really cheer you up, so I’m looking forward to seeing lights from all around the island that I wouldn’t otherwise.

"I know some people go to great lengths to create a magical wonderland atmosphere. But I suppose as we at Jersey Electricity are always encouraging our customers to be energy efficient, today’s LEDs enable people to create amazing displays using much less energy than in the past."

We'll be treating the winner to a bottle of Champagne for them to toast their success on Christmas morning.
