Update: Armed police hunting second stabbing suspect after woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

Tuesday 19 April 2016

Police are hunting a 37-year-old man who is believed to have stabbed a man near the burger bar at Bel Royal yesterday afternoon, and a 22-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Despite a search of the area – including Millbrook Park and St Aubin – by police armed with firearms and tasers, the man was still at large overnight and this morning.

The victim in the assault - a 31-year-old man - was taken to hospital with what police have described as a serious neck injury.

He is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit, and is understood to be in a stable condition.

The public were evacuated from Millbrook Park while the search took place yesterday, and police were later deployed to St Aubin to continue the search.

Specialist dog handlers have also been involved in the hunt for the stabbing suspect.

It’s understood that several witnesses saw an attack took place.

The police have confirmed that a 22-year-old woman who was arrested last night was being held on suspicion of attempted murder, and remains in police custody.

A police statement this morning said: "Police would still like to speak to a 37-year-old male who is connected to this incident but remains outstanding. Police would like to reassure Islanders that this was an isolated incident and that parties were known to each other."

Anyone with any information is being asked to contact the CID office in 612200 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555111.
