A 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of leaving a teenage boy in need of hospital treatment after stabbing him in the face with a pen and biting his arm.
Police said the alleged grave and criminal assault took place on Saturday between 17:45 and 18:00 outside Liberation Station on the Esplanade.
"A group of young people got off one of the buses at Liberation Station and walked towards Castle Street," officers said.
"A man, described as wearing all black with short blonde hair, followed the group from the bus and started an argument with them before assaulting a 14-year-old boy in the group by stabbing him with a pen and biting him on the arm.
"He required hospital treatment for cuts to his face and a bite mark as a result of this. The 14-year-old was wearing a grey zip-up hoodie with a gilet and black shorts."
Police arrested a 19-year-old later in the day on suspicion of grave and criminal assault, but stated that he has since been released on bail. They are now seeking more information on what happened.
